STOCKIST | MERCI | PARIS
Attracting customers from across the globe, Merci is where cool hunters and trend makers hang out for inspiration and a stellar Parisian retail experience. Although it is frequented by these fashionable types, Merci is welcoming to all with product ranges to suit varying tastes and budgets so shouldn't be dismissed by those who don't have fashion on their radar as Merci is much more than a cool shop. This huge lifestyle store houses a carefully curated yet eclectic mix of home ware, accessories, fashion, beauty, stationary and fashionable bits and bobs. Open and spacious, separated into various sections often with themed events, it’s perfect for browsing and for a boutique with such a revered reputation Merci maintains a laid back vibe with pleasingly unpretentious staff. Set over 3 floors there’s lots to see and covet even for kids who love the little items of stationary and various knick knacks. Merci are great at collaborating with like minded brands to produce interesting limited editions so keep your eye out for them when shopping. Having happily snapped up some goodies take some obligatory cute photos of your kiddies beside the signature vintage red Fiat 500 in the courtyard, decorated and embellished at different times throughout the year, adding a charming nuance.
To fuel up pre or post shopping, join the hipsters, design lovers and trend spotters who revel in the wonders of the shop then break for snack, lunch or light dinner at one of the 3 places to sit, relax and eat. The cafés are relaxed and are fine for children, if you can secure a spot as they are hugely sought out especially at peak times. The Used Book Café is cosy, intimate and ideal for breakfast or coffee breaks but it can be tricky to find space as customers tend to meet there and linger. Good coffee, cake, brunch and lunch with scones and tea an afternoon favourite. On hot days order a large glass of homemade lemonade and sit outside to watch the comings and goings of Paris’ cool crowd. The Cinema Café plays classic movies on the wall providing entertainment for little ones over lunch of salads, soups and large plates. The Merci Canteen in the store’s basement is a very pleasing place to sit for a coffee and feed the young crew a snack or two. Fresh and wholesome dominate the menu so dine on a variety of salads, soups and the like. If young children are in tow aim for the outside tables at off peak times and settle for fine food in a lovely setting.
Merci is also the boutique with a conscience – created by the founders of Bonpoint, all profits are donated directly to charity which we think is jolly commendable and downright honourable.
Currently running a vibrant theme promoting Paris, Souvenirs De Paris, it is the place to go for a range of snazzy Parisian souvenirs from independent brands and designers. URBANITO is honoured - and dream come true thrilled - to be part of this summer theme with our Paris guide sitting amongst such creative and wonderful brands.
The Souvenirs De Paris exhibition runs until 19th August 2017.
